    I recently read an article that I guarantee is impossible to read without smiling. You may just catch yourself laughing out loud.

    This article, “In Which I Fix My Girlfriend’s Grandparents’ WIFI And Am Hailed As A Conquering Hero,” knows exactly how I (and maybe you too) feel about technology – and towards that favorite IT specialist. If you are over 40, it feels like author Mike Lacher is talking about you. In the story, a handy boyfriend saves the day, bringing The Google back to his girlfriend’s grandparent’s Compaq computer. In my case, that tech-savvy hero is Nathan Clark, Bosshardt Realty’s IT Manager.

    For those of us who didn’t grow up with computers, it is easy to remember learning about all of the foreign buttons on computer keyboards that certainly did not exist on our Selectric typewriters.

    And that was just the beginning. It was the very tip of the iceberg. When I was younger, I thought that my grandparent’s generation saw the biggest leaps in technology. My grandfather drove a wagon with a mule yet lived to see a man land on the moon from the Apollo 11 spacecraft.

    Now, I feel that my generation may be witnessing the greatest changes. It’s up to us to adapt to the advancing technology. The concept of a computer requires learning a new language and skill set.

    As I teach classes to the new associates at Bosshardt Realty, I find myself in awe of how efficient listing and selling real estate has become. This is mostly due to computers.

    So, here’s to all of us trying to keep up. And thanks to all of the Nathan Clarks of the world who are patiently helping us.
